Construction Contract Administrator

Acton Ostry Architects is seeking experienced Intern Architects, Architects or Architectural Technologists specializing in construction contract administration (CA) for mid- to large-scale institutional or high-rise multifamily/mixed-use projects to join our practice.

Our 35+ member team works in a bright, spacious, open-concept studio in the heart of vibrant, eclectic Mount Pleasant.

Acton Ostry Architects is growing and as part of our expansion initiative, we are transitioning from a Mac platform primarily using Vectorworks and SketchUp to a PC environment utilizing Revit for production of construction documents.

What We’re Looking For

We seek a mature professional with extensive experience in construction contract administration including field reviews. The position includes direct involvement in projects during the construction phase, coordination and continuous improvement of office CA systems and mentorship of junior and intermediate level architectural staff. The candidate will be responsible for managing several projects concurrently and must demonstrate an ability to clearly understand and implement design intent throughout the CA process. Excellent communication and leadership skills are necessary for building productive relationships with clients, builders and regulatory authorities and for leading architectural project teams. Following are specific attributes and qualifications:
a degree or diploma in Architecture or Architectural/Building Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution registration or eligibility to be registered with the AIBC

  • 7 or more years of applicable experience with mid- to large-scale institutional or high-rise multifamily/ mixed-use projects

  • a high level of experience and skill in administering construction contracts, performing field reviews, managing architectural teams and maintaining the architectural design intent through the construction process

  • advanced technical proficiency

  • high quality standards and proven ability to work effectively to meet deadlines

  • strong communication and organizational skills

  • consultant coordination experience

  • building code knowledge and experience

  • specification knowledge and experience

  • experience with Vectorworks, Revit and BIM Collaborate Pro is an asset

Salary, Benefits and Perks

The starting salary will be $85,000 or more, adjusted to reflect the experience and ability of the applicant.
